Ben Murray


Ben Murray’s work in theatre includes War Horse in the West End and the National Theatre Live broadcast, for the National Theatre. Compositions for theatre include Duck Death and the Tulip at the Orange Tree; and Breakfast (also performer) at the Vaults Festival, the New Diorama, and Home Manchester. He is one of the founding members of Tarras and has released three albums with the band. Tarras were nominated for Best Original Song at BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. Ben Murray has recorded and toured all over the world, performing at the Womad festivals in Australia, New Zealand and South Korea and at all the major folk and roots festivals across Europe and the USA. Murray has performed and recorded with Guo Yue, Seth Lakeman, The Imagined Village and Renzo Spiteri and frequently works with producer Richard Evans. He is currently working with Tom Pickard on a play based on the life of Jamie Allen and he is recording two albums. Ben Murray and Rosie Doonan were nominated for the BBC 2 Horizon Award for their album, Mill Lane. He sang at the Passchendaele Celebration in Ypres in 2017, which was televised on BBC, and has been performing with the author Michael Morpurgo across the UK, singing alongside the Opera North Orchestra and the Royal Scottish Philharmonic Orchestra.
